Hands Across The Water
Foster-to-Adopt Program
The domestic Foster to Adopt Program
is designed to provide temporary care for children in need of an
out-of-home placement, which provides a family-like setting by families
licensed to provide foster care and are also interested in adopting.
The
purpose and primary goal of this program is to recruit, train and
assess foster/adoptive families who wish to foster one or more of the
many children who are awaiting permanency in foster care in the State
of Michigan with the intention to adopt should this become an option.
Hands
Across The Water and the adoptive families providing services to
children in the Foster to Adopt Program will, together, be prepared to
meet the needs of the children by:
- Providing the stability of a secure foster family and potentially a permanent adoptive family.
- Strengthening
the foster/adoptive family’s ability to care for the child, through
support, referral to community services, trainings and groups offered
by the agency as well as post-adoption support.
- Providing regular contact with the social worker to the foster/adoptive family and child.
