Home Study

As a licensed adoption agency, HATW provides adoption home study services to families living in Michigan. We are also COA Hague Accredited.

If you are a Michigan family and are interested in adopting using an agency outside of Michigan, you will need a Michigan agency to complete your home study and any post placement services. Hands Across The Water would be happy to assist you in this process. We have worked with many agencies and are even recommended by some to their Michigan families who are seeking home study services. We contact the agency you are working with to be sure what we provide you with will meet the criteria of the agency and country you are working with.

We approach the home study process as a Learning Process. We are learning about you and your family, and you are learning about adoption.

We provide home study services for all families interested in pursuing international adoption & domestic adoption and also provide assessments for families to become licensed for foster care in the state of Michigan. We can provide home study services for families interested in adoption who are using another agency for placement and , of course, those choosing one of our adoption programs.

Although our home studies meet Hague & USCIS standards (for international adoption) and Michigan requirements, many states, agencies, and countries may have additional requirements. We will work with your agency to make sure your needs are met.
